Five unknown men robbed a 34-year-old church caretaker and took church property.
The incident occurred in Motsu Section on April 6.
Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said the complainant alleged that he was sleeping in a shack on the church premises at the time of the incident.
“The caretaker heard the door being pushed open and five men entered. Three of them were in possession of firearms,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
“They pointed firearms at him and assaulted the caretaker.
“They then covered him with a blanket and again assaulted him with an iron bar. He screamed for help but no one came to help him.”
Capt Ralidzhivha said the men took three cellular phones and clothes.
He said the robbers went to the church and took two amplifiers, a mixer, Long Tom crossover speakers, cables, chairs, a deep fryer and a fridge.
“The suspects left the church through the back door. It seems the suspects used a vehicle to load the goods. A case of business robbery is being investigated by Tembisa detectives,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
