Four nabbed for robbery

"The suspects were questioned about the goods as shops were closed at the time."

The Tembisa SAPS arrested four men for business robbery on April 7.

Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said the suspects, aged between 23 and 28, were arrested on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and business robbery.

“Members were patrolling in Temong Section during the early hours of the morning. They saw four men walking along the street carrying some goods. The police officers stopped them,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.

He said when searching the men, the patrollers found the suspects in possession of goods that were suspected to be stolen.

“The suspects were questioned about the goods as shops were closed at the time. The suspects took the police to an Ethiopian’s shop in eMoyeni Section.

“It was established from the shop owner that an hour earlier, four men came to the shop and smashed the wall in a room where the owner and a friend were sleeping,” he said.

“When inside the shop, one of the suspects pointed a firearm at the shop owner. The robbers took cash, airtime, soap and groceries.”

He said the suspects were detained at the Tembisa SAPS.

“They will appear before the magistrate at the Tembisa court soon, to answer on charges of possession of stolen property and business robbery. The possibility of linking them to other cases cannot be left out,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
