Democratic Alliance Gauteng leader, John Moodey MPL, will announce and present the DA’s Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate for the 2016 local government elections on Tuesday.
The mayoral candidate was selected by an electoral college preceding the announcement.
“The ANC’s support in Ekurhuleni has been declining, with a significant drop in votes between 2009 (67.5%) and 2014 (55.07%). This decline, along with the continued service delivery protests across the metro, indicates that the residents of Ekurhuleni is ready for change,” Moodley said.
Moodey will be joined in the announcement by DA Ekurhuleni regional chairperson, Mel Da Silva, members of the Gauteng provincial legislature, Ashor Sarupen and Michele Clarke and DA national spokesperson, Refiloe Nt’sekhe MPL.
The announcement will be made at the Ekurhuleni Council Chambers in Germiston at 10.30am.
