According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton police, a knife-wielding suspect entered the home while the homeowners, an elderly couple, were watering their garden.

“While they were outside, the elderly couple heard their son screaming from inside the house. They both rushed inside to find their son covered in blood after being stabbed several times by the suspect,” Mtshali confirmed.

The couple jumped in to help their son and managed to overpower the suspect, but during the squabble the elderly woman and the suspect were also injured. Paramedics were called to the scene and declared the suspect dead on the scene.

“An inquest docket has been opened for further investigations. Police are also searching for a second suspect who was involved and who is still at large.”
