A drunk driver who passed out at a traffic light in Edleen on Saturday night was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Emergency services had to break his bakkie’s window to get him out of the vehicle. The incident happened at 11.15 at the intersection of CR Swart and Parkland drives.
The stationary vehicle was spotted by patrollers of Edleen CPF who alerted the authorities. While waiting for the police, patrollers controlled traffic at the intersection to prevent an accident from happening.
Once woken up and out of the vehicle, the man tried to run away. Police took him away from the scene to be charged.
