Two of four church robbers caught

Two of the suspects were arrested later and were found in possession of the items stolen during the robbery.

Two men escaped arrest while another two were arrested for a robbery at the Assembles of God Church in Norkem Park on April 19.

The pastor, Mr Daniel Fickling, alleged that while he was in the church praying with the congregation, four men between the ages of 33 and 34, entered the church.

Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said two of the suspects produced firearms and pointed the weapons at church members.

“They took members’ cellular phones, money, bank cards, jewellery, handbags, wallets and purses. They fled in a vehicle,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.

Two of the suspects were arrested later and were found in possession of the items stolen during the robbery.

They were arrested at Emfihlweni Section while the other two managed to evade arrest.

“The suspects will appear before the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court for possession of stolen property. The suspects were also found in possession of hunting ammunition and a laptop,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
