The Tembisa SAPS arrested a 29-year-old woman for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition on April 19.
The woman’s boyfriend was also arrested for attempted murder and robbery.
Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said a 40-year-old woman and her friend were approached by a man wearing dark clothing while in Emoyeni Section.
“The man pointed a firearm at them. They both ran in different directions. The suspect fired shots in the complainant’s direction. After the man had fled, the woman returned to her car and discovered her handbag had been taken. She said her laptop, cellular phone and cash had also been taken,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
“The victim opened a case of attempted murder with the SAPS. Her phone was tracked to a house in Mqantsa Section. The Tembisa SAPS went to the house, where they found a 29-year-old woman. Police officers searched the house and found the woman’s handbag. Inside the handbag they found the woman’s phone and laptop. The police also found two firearms,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
The arrested woman’s boyfriend was traced and found walking along a street. When police officers searched him, they found him in possession of a firearm. The 43-year-old suspect was arrested for attempted murder and robbery.
“The suspect will appear before the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
