‘Private investigators’ con abused woman out of thousands

The victim had approached the suspects for help as they were allegedly known as private investigators

TWO ”private investigators” have appeared in court for defrauding a woman who was being abused by her boyfriend.

The couple, Kyle Sydney Keyser, whose alias is Tiny (40), and Carmen Clare Wijbury (33), were arrested on April 20 by Kempton Park detectives after they allegedly conned the woman out of about R19 000, according to Kempton SAPS’s spokesperson, Capt Jethro Mtshali.

“It is alleged that both suspects conned the victim out of the money which was meant to assist the woman, who was in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend.

”The victim had approached the suspects for help as they were allegedly known as private investigators,” Mtshali explained.

The suspects allegedly assured the victim that they had a good relationship with a senior officer from Kempton police and that her boyfriend would soon be “sorted out”.

“When the victim realised the suspects were not authentic private investigators, they promised to refund the victim’s money but failed to honour the agreement,” Mtshali added.

The victim registered a case of fraud against the suspects, who are believed to be Zimbabwean nationals.

The police appeal to anyone who may have been conned by the suspects to come forward and approach Det W/O Lazarus Modiba on 011-393-8620.
