A 34-year-old man was apprehended on Saturday for a business robbery in Tlamatlama Section.
Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said a 19-year-old man claimed he was in a tuck shop when two suspects entered and pretended to be customers.
“One of the men went to the counter and asked for cigarettes. While he was being helped, his friend took out a firearm and pointed it at the youngster.
“The suspects demanded money from him. They also took the cash that was on the counter,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
“The shopkeeper screamed for help. The suspects fled and the community gave chase. Residents managed to apprehend one suspect.”
Capt Ralidzhivha said the SAPS was called to the scene and the suspect was handed over to the police.
“The SAPS searched him and he was found to be in possession of a firearm. It was later established that the weapon was a toy gun. He was arrested for business robbery and detained at the Tembisa SAPS cells.”
