TWO suspects are on the run and a case of attempted armed robbery has been opened with Kempton Park SAPS following a break-in at a plot in Pomona on Wednesday morning.
Alpha Security general manager, Mornè le Grange, said their client reported that his wife was being assaulted on his premises on Outeniqua Street at around 8am.
The two robbers gained entry by cutting the property’s electric fence and got away with a cellphone, house keys and remote controls.

“The controllers responded immediatel, by dispatching Mr A Madheu and Mr J Tamane to the premises. ER24 was also dispatched, as we did not know the extent of the victim’s injuries,” explained Le Grange.
“We can confirm that currently a case of armed robbery is being investigated by Kempton Park detectives,” said Kempton Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Jethro Mtshali.
“It is alleged that the owner of the house was busy with her daily chores when the alarm went off. She went outside and switched it off but the alarm went off again. That was when she called her husband before she went outside again,” Mtshali explained.
Le Grange added that reaction officer Madheu arrived at the premises and saw the client’s wife running towards him, crying profusely, with her hands bound. She showed him in which direction the two suspects went and he ran after them.
”When he came around the corner he saw the suspects running at a distance. One of them looked back and saw he was giving chase and fired a shot at him. The officer then took cover and, when he looked back around the corner, he could not see the suspects,” Le Grange said.
The reaction officer then returned to the client to obtain further information. After receiving a description of the suspects, the two officers drove through the area to see if they could find the men, to no avail.
“ER24 assessed the victim and found she was in shock due to the traumatic event,” Le Grange added.
”She was not transported to hospital as she was in no danger medically.”
