Spate of carjackings in Ebony Park

Ivory Park SAPS Communication Officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said car hijackings is escalating in Ebony Park.

Ivory Park SAPS is appealing to the residents of Ebony Park to beware of hijackers.

It is thought the hijackers are targeting motorists who park their vehicles at the parking bays while shopping.

Residents are advised to be vigilant at all times when parking their vehicles.

According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the number of car hijackings is escalating tremendously in Ebony Park.

“On Sunday May 15, 2016, a 27-year-old man was hijacked of his white VW Polo registration number, CF55GH GP after visiting a liquor store in Ebony Park at night. The victim was allegedly with his friend and they were supposed to go back home when three unknown males approached them, threatened them with a firearm and hijacked the the vehicle,” said W/O Sekgobela

W/O Sekgobela said the suspects drove off with the victims and dropped a friend in Tembisa and the owner was dropped in Mabopane.

“In another incident in Ebony Park, the same modus operandi was used on Monday, May 16 at night, not far from the recent scene. The victim was hijacked of his white Toyota Corolla by three unknown males. The vehicle was later recovered in Kaalfontein by the members of the tracking unit,” W/O Sekgobela said.

Ivory Park SAPS is appealing to members of the community who might have information regarding the suspects to come forward or phone Ivory Park SAPS on 011 990-9600.
