Special operation was a success in apprehending law breakers.

Ekurhuleni North Cluster has reported the success of a special operation held on May 12 by Tembisa SAPS. Constable Patricia Mgijima said the operation was fruitful as 11 illegal shebeens were closed around Sethokga and Winnie Mandela.

“Two suspects were arrested for possession if dagga, 14 were issued with tickets for driving without a licence and unroadworthy vehicles. Persons, vehicles, businesses, schools and houses were searched. Banks and three taxi ranks were also visited,” said Constable Mgijima.

She said the operation started off with a parade at Phumulani Mall, Winnie Mandela with about 150 members from the Cluster Stations, Flying Squad, Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD), National Vispol, Tembisa Detectives and Community Policing Forum (CPF).

The operation concentrated mostly on searching for drugs, closing illegal shebeens, tracing of suspects, stop and search, and roadblocks involving searching for firearms, stolen property, drunken driving and unroadworthy vehicles. The team closed off entrances and exits in the Tembisa area.
