FOUR armed robbers were arrested on Friday afternoon (June 17) after holding a shop owner at gunpoint and robbing him.
The four men casually walked into the shop on corner Commissioner Street and Du Plessis Avenue, pretending to be customers. The incident happened at about 3pm.
Moments later, explained Kempton Police spokesperson Capt Jethro Mtshali, the four men held up the owner of the shop at gunpoint.

“It is alleged that the four suspects then robbed the shop owner of an undisclosed amount of money and a cellphone. Luckily, police were patrolling in the area and were immediately alerted. They managed to corner three of the suspects as they tried to flee on foot,” Mtshali explained.
The fourth suspect was later found by police hiding nearby after the officers received a tip-off about his whereabouts.
The men were found with two Norinco pistols.
They will appear in court for business robbery and have also been charged with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
