Ekurhuleni Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Roads and Transport, Clr Petrus Mhlari officially opened the R12.7-million taxi rank in Palm Ridge on Friday last week.
This facility is part of the city’s vision of modernising the townships by investing in growing resources in infrastructure that directly improves the lives of citizens.
Sarafina Maseko is a resident of Palm Ridge who uses public transport from Palm Ridge to Germiston daily. She could not contain her excitement upon the official opening ceremony.
“This is a dream come true. Waiting for taxis in an open veld was the worst experience, especially in summer when it rains. The heavy rains and muddy surfaces made it hard to enjoy travelling on public transport. Now I’m glad we have a well-paved taxi rank and loading bays with shelter,” Ms Maseko said.
