A pizza delivery guy helped bring down two armed robbers in Kempton on Monday afternoon.
The two suspects, aged 17 and 20, were chased down by a police officer and a private security company officer after they had robbed a shop on North Rand Road at about 3pm.
A Debonairs Pizza delivery man informed Alpha Security officer, Edrick Brummer, about two men who had just robbed the outlet. Brummer responded to the tip-off and pursued the suspects.

At about the same time, W/O Gcobane Dibanisa of Kempton SAPS received the same information from a member of the public and also gave chase, police spokesperson, Capt Jethro Mtshali, said.
W/O Dibanisa quickly caught and arrested the first suspect at the intersection by Pienaar Avenue, Kerk Street and Du Plessis Avenue.
“The second suspect jumped into the park on the corner of Pienaar Avenue and Commissioner Street,” Morné le Grange, general manager at Alpha Security, told EXPRESS.
In the meantime, back up had been called and members of the police force, metro police and security company officers made their way to the scene
“Once the suspect saw that he has been cornered inside the premises, he started shooting and the police returned fire. This didn’t last long as the suspect threw the firearm to the ground and gave himself up to police,” Le Grange said.
The second suspect was also arrested and joined his accomplice. They were both charged with armed business robbery and the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Stolen goods, including cigarettes, a cell phone and an undisclosed amount of money, were recovered.
ER24 paramedics were called to the scene to assist but fortunately no one was injured.
“Thanks to the fast response from Mr Brummer and W/O Dibanisa, who both acted on information from the public. The suspects were quickly arrested, the stolen property recovered and one more illegal firearm is off the streets.”
