With talks of coalitions in the major metros still rife after the weekend, the African National Congress (ANC) took victory in all Tembisa wards followed by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), which took a few voting stations in some wards.
The leader of the DA, Mmusi Maimane, said over the weekend that the DA set out to bring the ANC to below 50 percent.
“Our mayoral candidate, Herman Mashaba, will be seeking to lead a coalition government in Johannesburg.
“In Ekurhuleni, the DA has grown from 25 percent in 2006, to 34,2 percent in 2016. The ANC’s support has collapsed from 61 percent in 2006 and 2011 to 48,6 percent in 2016.
