Businesses affected by roadworks on Bergrivier Drive

Customers are advised to use an alternative route via Zuurfontein Road

SEVERAL Chloorkop businesses have been affected by the recent roadworks taking place on Bergrivier Drive.

The construction is aimed at the upgrading and widening of the lengthy stretch of road, which runs through Birch Acres, Terenure and Chloorkop.

But a few businesses situated towards the end of Bergrivier Drive towards Chloorkop, have been affected by the construction because it blocks the entrance from Bergrivier Drive into their premises.

According to Alpha Builders Supply director, Sylvia Goncalves, the roadworks began in June.

“As a result of the construction on the road, our customers have had to use an alternative route, via Zuurfontein Road, to get to our shop as well as the other businesses in the area,” Goncalves told EXPRESS.

“What is even more frustrating is that we don’t have a time frame for when the roadworks will be completed.”

EXPRESS first reported that construction work on the road was meant to begin on April 11 last year.

EXPRESS sent an email to the metro on July 14 enquiring about the roadworks, but has received no feedback yet.
