Hoërskool Birchleigh and John Wesley girls create memories

Each of the John Wesley girls received a mystery gift box from a Birchleigh girl

TWELVE Grade 11 learners from Hoërskool Birchleigh spent a day with the girls at John Wesley Children’s Home.

The girls all created beautiful memories together on September 17 by decorating cupcakes and having one-on-one chats with each other, sharing their experiences and getting to know each other.

Each of the home’s girls received a mystery box from a Birchleigh girl.

The John Wesley girls were super excited to open their presents and see what was inside. From essential personal toiletries to pretty hair accessories, each gift box contained something special for each girl. Every Birchleigh girl had taken the time to beautifully wrap her gift box.

“We also, as a school, collected non-perishable food items, such as cooking oil, as well as toiletries, cleaning products and kitchen goods. We also donated much-needed stationery for school,” Hoërskool Birchleigh admin clerk, Nicky Sansom, who helped to organise the initiative, said.

The girls ended the day with a braai, with the help of Sansom’s and her colleague Ju-Mari Meyer’s husbands.

“This is something we would like to do every year as a school; to give back and take some time to spend with those who are not as fortunate as us,” Sansom concluded.
