Riebie learner makes a difference for cancer patients
Cayla van Eeden was recently crowned Miss Pre-Teen Africa 2016
PAGEANT princess Cayla van Eeden recently played her part in creating awareness of child cancer.
In light of international Child Cancer Awareness Month, which takes place during September, the grade 7 Van Riebeeck Park Primary pupil made gold ribbons and handed them out to learners at Riebies.
The golden ribbons are the symbol of Little Fighters Cancer Trust, an international organisation that supports children with cancer and their families. Information posters provided by Little Fighters Cancer Trust about childhood cancer were also put up around the school.

Van Eeden, who was recently crowned Miss Pre-Teen Africa 2016, has a real passion for charity work and is committed to making a difference in people’s lives. During the past two months, she visited and handed over donations of toiletries, stationery and toys to Siphumulele Children’s Home in Edleen.
She also donated to The Salvation Army in Benoni and Strathyre Girls Home in Kensington, to name just a few.
“Thank you to everyone who supported this initiative by wearing their ribbons,” Van Eeden said. “And to all the little cancer fighters out there, you are in our thoughts and prayers.”
