Sharing love with children in need

"Supporting them with the little you have does make a difference."

Masole and Masolenyana A Kriste Morena from the St Vincent Catholic Church visited the Tembisa Child and Family Welfare Centre recently to donate food parcels to the children.

Chairperson of the group, Ms Tsholofelo Moerane, said they know the challenges that are faced by the women who take care of abandoned, vulnerable and needy children.

“Supporting them with the little you have does make a difference. These children need our love, care and support as the community. It is never any child’s wish to grow up in the absence of both their parents and not have a stable and well maintained home,” said Ms Moerane.

“Women operating places of safety for the children in Tembisa are faced with various challenges on a daily basis, to be able to maintain the very same places that are home to hundreds of children in the area,” she said.

Ms Moerane said they thought, as the youth, that they should support their young sisters and brothers by showing them love, care and support, although their visit was mainly for women empowerment.

“We felt the love of accommodating all the children and teaching them about our life experience as we grow. Our main objective for this visit was to motivate our youth to become the exceptional future leaders of our community and our country.

“We are learning in our daily lives about poverty, which decreases our economic growth and we thought if we are to renew Africa we need to start with the base of this country and that’s our youth. Due to the fact that we are exposed to a lot of earthly things such as substance abuse and being sexually active, we believe that change will occur,” said Ms Moerane.

“We are glad to have made this a wonderful day and to engage with other children of our own age and younger, and mostly building women power. It is time for the youth of Tembisa to stand up for this community and to fight poverty by supporting the homeless and giving out to those who are in need.

“We are the future, we are the leaders of tomorrow and our community is looking to us for they believe in us. Let us bring unity and strive for a better tomorrow. All that starts by having love and support,” said Ms Moerane.
