Hijackers toss girl (6) from Polo hijacked in Norkem Park

They appeared in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday

A six-year-old girl was flung from a car window after it had been hijacked in Norkem Park on Friday.

Lt Col Wilfred Kgasago confirmed the incident and said according to information he received she was seriously injured. However, he had no further details.

Norkem Park SAPS had not yet responded to queries from Kempton Express.

The hijacked red VW Polo was recovered on Allandale Road on Monday, he said. Two suspects were arrested and two unlicensed handguns recovered.

Kgasago said the vehicle’s tracking signal disappeared for the whole weekend. On Monday around 10am, the signal re-appeared and was picked up by a team of EMPD K9 Unit members, the police and officers from the tracking company.

“The signal was repeating along Allandale Road moving in the direction of Midrand when the law enforcers cornered the two suspects and placed them under arrest. Two 9mm pistols with 24 rounds live rounds were recovered. Both pistols were found with serial numbers filed off.”

The apprehended suspects, aged 34 and 32, were detained at Rabie Ridge Police Station on charges of possession of a hijacked vehicle as well as possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

They appeared in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
