The Ivory Park SAPS moved swiftly to arrest a 24-year-old man who allegedly raped his mother in Ivory Park, Extension 2, on October 1.
The man was arrested on Sunday shortly after a case of rape was opened against him.
It is alleged that the 54-year-old mother had an argument with her son after he allegedly demanded that he be bought a taxi for his own use.
“It is not yet known what influence, if any, the son was under, but he was alleged to have committed this act the whole night, up until 3am in the morning.
“The suspect appeared in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on Monday and his case is being handled by the local Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit of the SAPS,” said the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Captain Bernard Matimulane.
The acting station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Colonel Baba Matthew Mpotoane, expressed shock at the incident and has thanked the police for the swift arrest of the suspect.
