Black tie event raises money for school shoes
Guests went home with sunglasses sponsored by Dr Lebo Matlala
VINTAGE was the theme for the third annual black tie event in aid of charity at the Aviator Hotel OR Tambo on September 24.
The event was started three years ago by Tebogo Bulane and Prudence Sihlangu to form a culture of donating and assisting shelters, orphanages and charities in the community.
The vision for this year’s event was to raise funds for school shoes for Bulamehlo Orphanage. Enough funds were raised for 50 pairs of shoes.
“Last year we partnered with Boston Campus in Kempton, so we could offer disadvantaged children bursaries. Last year we gave a bursary worth R15 000 to a boy from Ivory Park,” said Bulane.
“The aim for this year was to raise funds for 10 or more bursaries, however, they only had one to offer. We wish more companies can come on board to assist us in this regard.”
Bulane added that the dress of guests at this year’s event was excellent. People were dressed in 80’s-style and in vintage gowns and suits.
Guests went home with sunglasses sponsored by Dr Lebo Matlala, who also gave a donation of R5 000 towards university fees for one academically deserving health or science degree student for next year. Aviator Hotel also gave away a one night stay/bed and breakfast at the hotel for a lucky guest.
