Taxi without brakes crashes into three vehicles in Benoni

Ten people have been left injured this morning when a taxi crashed into three vehicles at the N12 and Bunyan Road intersection in Benoni.

Russel Meiring of ER24 said paramedics from various services arrived on the scene and found a taxi lying on its side. A SUV and two light motor vehicles were parked in the middle of the intersection.

Several occupants, as well as the drivers, were found walking around on the scene.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found 10 people had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Fortunately, no serious or fatal injuries were reported.

Paramedics treated the patients and transported them to various hospitals.

Meiring said the driver of the taxi later told local authorities the brakes on his vehicle had failed, causing the collision.
