Police paraphernalia recovered from suspect

The metro police officers tested the lights and they emitted a blue colour.

Metro Police officers arrested a man on Thursday, October 6, for possession of a metro police uniform.

Captain Neldah Sekgobela said Metro Police officers received a complaint from Entsonalanga Section residents.

“They visited the address at Molokwane Street in Entsonalanga Section and on arrival, the officers asked for permission to search the house.

“Permission was granted by the suspect who owns the house,” said Capt Sekgobela.

A signal jammer, one four-bar light, one two-bar light, a metro police uniform, a 9mm Norinco pistol with the serial number filed off and eight live rounds were found inside the house.

Capt Sekgobela said the metro police officers tested the lights and they emitted a blue colour. They also connected the jammer and their cellular phones lost signal. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Tembisa South SAPS.

“The suspect might be linked to other cases reported at our neighbouring police stations, whereby the victims were robbed of their property by suspects masquerading as officers from the Metro Police.

Capt Sekgobela and the management of the Tembisa South SAPS thanked the members of the community for their efforts to expose the suspect who was hiding among them.
