Presbyterian church hosts pink walk for cancer awareness

The proceeds will be split between the Cansa association and a seven month old cancer patient

GATEWAY Presbyterian Church hosted a Pink and Beautiful 5km Cancer Fun Walk on Saturday.

The walk started at the church’s premises on Dann Road in Glen Marais and went all the way to Monument road and back.

“The day was a great success and we had about 80 participants, with babies in strollers and dogs on leashes who joined the walk,” said Flo Matela, member and organiser at Gateway Presbyterian Church.

After the walk, cancer patients and survivors shared their stories with the other participants.

The proceeds will be split between the Cansa association and a seven month old cancer patient, Tyler, who is the child of one of the church members.

“We would like to thank all our the community and church members who joined us for this fun day and we hope to see you next year again,” Matela added.
