Third Birch Acres hijacker arrested

The third suspect was arrested over the weekend for the hijacking which took place on October 11

A third suspect will join his two accomplices in court to face a charge of carjacking, following his arrest by Norkem Park SAPS over the weekend.

According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, the other two suspects were arrested by Rabie Ridge SAPS in possession of the hijacked vehicle last week.

The hijacking took place on Tuesday, October 11 at around 3:30pm on Kolobrie Avenue, Birch Acres.

“The female victim parked in her driveway to open the gate and was approached by two suspects. One of them pointed a firearm at her. The suspects then drove off with her silver grey Daihatsu Terios,” explained Molokomme.

Various other arrests were also made from Friday to Sunday, including four for possession of dagga, two for common robbery, one for possession of a substance suspected to be drugs, one for theft out of a motor vehicle, one for possession of stolen property and one for assault under domestic violence.

These arrests are outcomes of weekend operations including patrols, investigations and stop and searches conducted by officers around Norkem policing precinct.
