Many residents have been left without water tonight

A leak on Anemoon Street has also been picked up

Contractors who have damaged water pipes in two locations have left hundreds of residents without water for the rest of this afternoon and tonight.

According to ward councillor Jaco Terblanche water pipes have been damaged on Quinine Street as well as at the corner of Loam and Sim streets in Glen Marais.

He said according to the metro’s water department residents of Glen Marais, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park and possibly Kempton Park ext 2 and 3 have been affected.

A leak on Anemoon Street has also been picked up.

Terblanche said residents would experience low water pressure to no water for the rest of the day. “If repairs currently underway are done properly tonight, the situation should be back to normal by Saturday morning. If not, more problems could be expected.”

The damage was caused by contractors on site doing upgrades to the storm water system in the area.
