Super animal cards and minis bring in over a 1 000kg of dog and cat food

Community members could exchange Pick n Pay Super Animal cards and Checkers minis for dog and cat food

ANIMAL lover and Nimrod park resident, Lee Zerf (24), donated 1,1 tonnes of dog and cat food to three different animal shelters.

She started the initiative in August, when community members could exchange Pick n Pay Super Animal cards and Checkers minis for dog and cat food.

She reached her goal of 1 108.20kg of dry dog and cat food on Friday, October 14, which excludes tinned food, wet food sachets, blankets, jerseys, leashes, beds, kitten milk and food bowls.

Zerf donated 260kg of dry cat food to Kempton Park Feral and Abandoned Cats, while Pet Rescue in Benoni and Wollies in Pretoria each received 300kg of dry dog food and around 125kg of dry cat food.

She split the extra tinned food, wet food sachets, blankets, jerseys, leashes, beds, kitten milk and food bowls between the three shelters.

“I have the community of Kempton Park to thank. Without you guys I would never have reached my goal,” said Zerf.
