Man arrested for tavern murder

"He went to where the deceased was and stabbed the 28-year-old man in his upper body."

On October 29, the Tembisa SAPS arrested a 24-year-old man for murder and attempted murder at a tavern.

Captain Manyadzha Ralidzhivha said it was alleged that a fight ensued between the suspect and the deceased. Other patrons intervened and separated the two men who were fighting.

“The suspect was chased away from the tavern and he later returned to the tavern unnoticed.

“He went to where the deceased was and stabbed the 28-year-old man in his upper body on the left side. He also stabbed another man and robbed him of his cellphone before running away from the tavern,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.

Capt Ralidzhivha said the victim was transported to hospital where he was certified dead on arrival.

“The police were informed about the incident and they went out looking for the suspect. The police found the suspect at his house.”

“They found him in possession of the cellphone that he took from his victim,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.

Capt Ralidzhivha said the weapon was also found in the suspect’s room in Xubeni Section.

“The police arrested him for murder, attempted murder and possession of suspected stolen property.”

The suspect will appear before the Tmbisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
