Storm creates havoc on East Rand – one believed drowned

Several reports of flooding in Kempton Park have been received

Severe flooding has occurred in Kempton Park and surrounding areas following an electric storm earlier tonight.

Chaos erupted on several highways, including the N3, R24and N12.

According to reports a section of a roof at OR Tambo Airport collapsed while some parking areas were also flooded.

EMER-G-MED Paramedics are attending to serious flash flooding on the N3 in Linksfield.

Upwards of 150 cars, over a stretch of two kilometres, have been affected. It’s believed that about 10 cars have been pushed off the highway and down an embankment. Some have been completely submerged in the river, Max Cohen of Emer-G-Med said.
