Woman followed from ATM and robbed in Bonaero Park

The man bumped the victim's car slightly to make it seem as if it was an accident

A case of armed robbery is being investigated after a woman was robbed at gunpoint in Bonaero Park on October 30.

According to Kempton SAPS’ Capt Neldah Sekgobela, the victim was allegedly followed home from the bank, after she withdrew cash from an FNB ATM at the Bonaero Park Pick n Pay shopping centre.

“On her way home, the woman said she suddenly heard what sounded like a tyre puncture. She got out of the car to check what was going on,” Sekgobela explained.

This was on the corner of Prestwick and Daeraad streets.

“Just as she got out of her car, a white bakkie pulled up behind her. A man emerged from the bakkie and approached her.”

The man allegedly apologised to the woman for ‘bumping’ her car. “He then pulled out a firearm and pointed it at her and demanded the cash she withdrew.”

The woman surrendered her R900 to the robber, who also stole her cellphone and wedding ring.

No arrests have been made.
