Police operation results in arrests

The police managed to arrest 53 people for driving vehicles while under the influence of alcohol.

On October 29, the Tembisa South SAPS arrested a man from Moedi Section for possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Captain Manyadzha Ralidzhiva said members of the SAPS were on patrol when they stopped and searched the 22-year-old man.
“On searching him they found an Arcus pistol in his possession. The firearm had a magazine with six live rounds of ammunition,” said Captain Ralidzhivha.
“He is currently detained at the Tembisa South cells.”
The man is expected to appear before the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
Captain Ralidzhivha said in other cases the police managed to arrest 53 people for driving vehicles while under the influence of alcohol.
“Three people were arrested in Olifantsfontein for exceeding the speed limit, 16 were arrested for crossing the railway line at Olifantsfontein and Kempton Park, four were arrested for shoplifting, four were arrested for being illegal immigrants and 12 were arrested for possession of drugs,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
