Talk on birding in the USA

His photographs have been used in various publications

WHEN Rolf Wiesler took a non-birding trip to the USA, little did he think that birds would sneak into his view finder and sometimes dominate the picture.

Wiesler is the featured speaker at the next evening meeting of Modderfontein Conservation Society when he will share these, and other, American photographic highlights from Washington DC, New York City, Mt Desert Island, Main and Barnard, Vermont.

The meeting takes place in Modderfontein Town Hall, 1 Casino Road at 7.30pm on November 17.

Wiesler’s wife, Karin introduced him to birding somewhat late in life but when the bug bit, there was no holding back.  He currently boasts a photographic “lifer” list of 818 birds.

“As it has become more difficult to add to this list, I have expanded my expertise and now photograph all aspects of biodiversity,” he explains.

His photographs have been used in various publications, including three books authored by Lee Gutteridge.

Visitors are welcome to attend this meeting.  An entrance fee of R30 is charged to help cover expenses.
