NORKEM Park SAPS is experiencing an increase in hijacking and house robbery, with the hot spots being Van Riebeeck Park and Birch Acres.
This is according to Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme.
Hijacking, house robbery and theft from motor vehicles have shown an increase in these areas the past four weeks.

“The incidents take place mostly between 5pm and 10pm, and mostly in driveways. All days of the week are problematic with Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays being more problematic,” warned Molokomme.
Molokomme said perpetrators move around in groups of two or three armed men.
“Vehicles mostly targeted are Mercedes Benz, Renault and Opel sedans. The perpetrators use a white Mazda Midge, white Nissan Micra and light brown Hyundai, all without registration numbers, as getaway cars.”
The criminals, he added, do not hesitate to shoot if provoked.
Norkem Park SAPS requests residents to assist in identifying these criminals and to call the station on 011-391-1814/5, 10111, 08600 10111 or sector vehicles on 071-675-6803/4/5/6.
