Despite the rain of Friday last week, hundreds of Tembisa residents gathered at Zamokuhle Private Hospital for the annual wellness day.
Together with its partners, Zamokuhle Private Hospital provided free health screening, testing and also offered medical advice to residents.
People were tested for glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure and HIV/Aids.
The Wellness Day took place from 10am to 3pm.
According to the hospital’s Client Relations Officer, Ms Petunia Mhangwane, the wellness day is part of their Corporate Social Investment.
“We want to show the community that we care about their well-being. The aim is to promote wellness and a healthy lifestyle. We are targeting the community members who cannot afford private hospitals,” said Ms Mhangwane.
Some of the stakeholders who were part and parcel of the event were Old Mutual, Sanlam, Metropolitan, Future Life, Lancet, Nissian, and the South African National Blood Services (SANBS).
The residents were also provided with free financial wellness support from the organisations.
“The community reacted well to all the tests and also donated blood. We appreciate the fact that most people were happy to get tested and volunteered to donate their blood. It shows that our people are taking their health seriously and are curious about their well-being,” said Mhangwane.
