Teen (19) injured after crashing through wall in Birchleigh North

The youngster was found outside the vehicle

A 19-year-old boy was seriously injured after he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and drove through a property boundary wall on Strydom Street in Birchleigh North on Sunday afternoon.

Just before 4pm, residents said they heard what sounded like tyres screeching from a car moving at high speed.

Then just seconds later, an extremely loud banging sound was heard. The car had crashed into one of the homes just after passing a bend on the street.

When EXPRESS arrived at the scene, the blue Toyota Corolla had collided into the wall of a house.

The driver of the vehicle, a young man wearing a blue t-shirt, had already stepped out of the car and was complaining about a broken shoulder.

Policemen were already at the scene. According to them, they saw the driver speeding on Mooifontein Road and started chasing after it. The car turned into Strydom Street and finally came to a standstill when it lost control after the bend.
