Fund-raisers for cancer patient Monya (3)
All proceeds of both events will go towards Monya's medical bills
LOCAL resident Nikita Swartz, who is Miss Junior Queen Africa 2016, and the staff of Forever Young Beauty Salon on Monument Road are hosting fundraising events for cancer patient Monya van Wyk (3) on December 3 and 10.
Monya of Van Riebeeck Park was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in May. She is receiving intense chemotherapy through a tunnelled catheter which goes through her chest directly into her heart.

On December 3 the staff of Forever Young Beauty Salon is hosting a 5km fun run to raise funds towards Monya’s medical bills. The run will kick off at 8am sharp and entry is R20 a person.

On December 10 Swartz will host a fund-raising pageant called Miss Heart of Gold in aid of Monya’s fund.
The pageant will take place at Avion Park Bowls Club and is open to all girls aged between three and 20-plus.
The entry fee for contestants is R150 and for spectators R25 a person.
Registration starts at 10.30am on the day and there will be two titles up for grabs in each age group, Miss Heart of Gold 2016 and Miss Heart of Gold Photogenic.
There will also be stalls and spaces are still available at R150 a stall. A photo booth competition will be held at R50 an entry and anybody can enter for a chance to win a surprise hamper.
