Wrong gear causes driver to burst through shop window
The shop was previously a nail bar but was vacant at the time of the accident
A driver crashed his brand new BMW into an empty shop at Bonaero Park Shopping Centre this morning.
The incident took place just after 8:30am.
According to reports, the driver and his male companion were parked across from the empty shop, that was formerly a nail bar in the centre.
A source said the driver recently bought his BMW automatic vehicle and thought he had put the gear into reverse, when he had actually put the gear in drive mode. He accelerated and instead of going backwards, the car went straight through the glass doors of the empty shop.
An onlooker apparently assisted taking the car out of gear in the shop.
The shop was vacant and no injuries were reported.
Security companies, the police and metro police were on the scene.
