New homes for those who waited for years

The title deed recipients have waited for over a decade for this occasion

Eighty-seven title deeds were handed over to residents of Esselen Park, followed by 478 title deeds issued at Vosloorus Civic Centre to residents of Mapleton, Vosloorus and Reiger Park over the weekend.

The title deed recipients have waited for over a decade for this occasion. The long wait became reality at the handover event.

A joyful Johanna Motingoe (75) residing in Vosloorus Ext 14, said, “I waited for 14 years to receive my title deed, I am very excited to receive it today. After so many years of waiting, I have been praying for this day, now my grandchildren will have a home when I die,” she said.

MMC for Human Settlements, Lesiba Mpya, said the municipality had vowed to distribute a total of 280 title deeds in 100 days. He said that commitment had been met.
