Brother nabbed trying to bribe police to let his sibling go

The suspects will appear in Kempton Park Magistrate's Court today

Kempton Park SAPS arrested two suspects for the possession of suspected stolen copper cables and bribery over the weekend.

Members of the Railway Police Unit were patrolling at Kempton Park Railway Station and noticed a suspicious vehicle. Three suspects fled when members approached the vehicle.

The driver was asked for permission to search the vehicle. Police found copper cables as well as housebreaking implements. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen copper cables.

While police were at the police station, a 29-year-old man approached officers and attempted to bribe them with R5 000 to release his brother. He was immediately arrested and charged with bribery.

The suspects will appear in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court today.
