Body of stowaway found in aircraft’s wheel at OR Tambo
Engineers discovered the body during a maintenance check
The body of a stowaway was found in the main wheel well of one of Arik Air’s A330-200 aircraft at OR Tambo International Airport on Wednesday.
According to a statement released by the airline the aircraft operated a scheduled Lagos-Johannesburg flight that departed the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at 3:55pm on Tuesday, November 29, and arrived in Johannesburg shortly before 11pm.

Engineers of South African Airways’ technical facility at the airport, where the aircraft was scheduled for a routine maintenance check, discovered the body of the stowaway during inspection.
Investigations are ongoing to determine how the stowaway found his way into the aircraft’s main wheel well, Air Arik stated.
