Aerobics marathon at Dries Niemandt on Saturday

Eleven buses have been arranged to transport participants from Tembisa

Lack of physical activity is one of the contributing factors to lifestyle diseases such as obesity and other illnesses.

It is for this reason the City of Ekurhuleni initiated a fit for free aerobics marathon programme last year – a mass athletic session involving about 33 community aerobics clubs.

The marathon is back on Saturday, December 10 and all residents are invited to spend three hours of aerobics sessions.

The marathon will take place at Dries Niemandt Park from 7am.

At its inception, the programme was only offered in the communities of Katlehong, Vosloorus, Tembisa, Daveyton, Kwa-Thema and Tsakane.

Now the programme has expanded to Reiger Park, Thokoza, Palm Ridge, Zonkezizwe, Dawn Park, Spruitview, Duduza, Etwatwa, Phomolong, Germiston, Rondebult, Wattville and Dunnottar.

Other new areas include Winnie Mandela, Esselen Park, Birchleigh, Tswelopele, Alra Park, Langaville, Green Valley in Buhle Park, Boksburg North, Dukathole and Villa Lisa.

Eleven buses have been arranged to transport participants from Tembisa, departing at 6am. The pick-up points are Phomolong Sports Ground, Ethafeni Park, Mehlareng Stadium, Makhulong Stadium, Moriting Shell Garage, Tswelopele Sports Ground and Ililiba Engen Garage.
