Fun run for cancer patient Monya raises R10 000

People also entered into a raffle competition run by the beauty spa

FOREVER Young Beauty Salon raised R10 000 through its fun run for cancer patient Monya van Wyk (3).

The event was hosted at the Glen Eagle Office Park on Saturday morning, where participants ran or walked a 5km distance around the area.

About 150 people participated in the charity event, including young children.

After burning those calories in the hot sun, the walkers and runners enjoyed hot dogs on sale from The Food Bus.

People also entered into a raffle competition run by the beauty spa and will stand the chance of winning a variety of facial, slimming and pamper products.

Monya was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in May and is receiving intense chemotherapy through a tunnelled catheter which goes through her chest directly into her heart.

All the proceeds made from the event will be handed over to little Monya to help pay for her medical bills.
