VIDEO: Massive pipe burst leaves residents without water until 8pm

According to Ekurhuleni spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, water tankers will be supplied to the affected areas

RESIDENTS of Esther Park and Edleen will be without water until 8pm following a huge water pipe burst in the early hours of this morning in Esther Park.

As a result, a section of Zuurfontein Road at the Parkland Drive intersection caved in. According to Ward Clr Tracey Lourenco, some residents have been without water since 2am.

A woman who was on her way to work at around 6am ended up stuck ‘nose-first’ in the two metre deep and five metre wide hole caused by the burst.

According to Lourenco, the construction team is working hard to get the road and pipe fixed before the end of the day. She also said water was being pumped out of the hole to locate the damage to the pipe.

“This is a big job because this is the main water line for the area. We advise motorists to use alternative routes for now because of the road being blocked off when travelling south towards Spartan,” said Lourenco.
