FOUR suspects appeared in court on Monday after they were arrested in connection with the discovery of a R3-million drug laboratory in Pomona on Thursday last week.
Chi-Yu Fan (38) and Chi-Chin Fan (31), both Taiwanese nationals and Mozambican duo Orcidio Sitoe (29) and Peters Ngwenya (26) appeared in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court for dealing and manufacturing drugs.
“Another person, who is believed to be the kingpin of this underground operation, has been instructed to hand himself over to the police within 24 hours. He will be in the company of his legal representatives,” the Hawks’ Capt Ndivhuwo Mulamu said.

According to Mulamu, their Serious Organised Crime Unit together with the South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau and the Vaal Rand K9 were led to the the clandestine laboratory on Thomas Road.
Mulamu described the place as a plot with what looked like huge storage facility tanks.
“After a thorough and diligent search with the K9 unit, the team recovered crystal meth, chemicals and drug-manufacturing equipment,” Mulamu confirmed.
Their case was postponed to December 21 for a formal bail application.
