Suspect nabbed after robbery at Birchleigh home

The robber and his accomplice locked up a domestic worker and tenants in a room before making off with some of their property

A suspect was arrested and another is on the loose after a house robbery on Thursday last week.

The robbery took place in Koedoe Street, Birchleigh, at 11am.

According to Norkem Park Police spokesman Capt Lesibana Molokomme, the two armed robbers locked a domestic worker and tenants in a room before making off with some of their property.

“The station patrollers in Birchleigh noticed suspects jumping over the wall and called for back-up.

Police and MML Security officers arrived and one suspect was arrested while some stolen property was recovered,” explained Molokomme.

The 27-year-old suspect will appear in court on a charge of robbery and possession of stolen property.

Other arrests made by Norkem Park SAPS include shoplifting, house breaking and theft, malicious damage to property, fraud, assault and possession of dagga.
