Resident chases down early morning New Year’s Day thief

Security response officers were on the scene quickly and took the perpetrator into custody

A New Year’s morning thief did not get what he bargained for when he was chased down on foot by a Terenure resident.

According to Terenure/Kempton Park West CPF they received a distress call around 6am from a woman who reported a man trying to gain access to her Loofboom Street home.

While the control room dispatched security companies, a neighbour from Sweet William Street jumped into his vehicle and rushed to the house on Loofboom Street. As he approached the house the suspect noticed he had company and started to run towards Sweet William and Opstal streets. The neighbour gave chase on foot and caught the perpetrator.

Security response officers were on the scene quickly and took the perpetrator into custody. The police was called who then made the arrest.
