Ekurhuleni mayor slams allegations against MMC and Chief of Staff

The allegations are around the alleged usage of the City of Ekurhuleni-issued credit cards this past weekend at the ANC celebrations to pay a bill.

The office of Ekurhuleni’s executive mayor denied any truth in the social media allegations peddled against MMC Lesiba Mpya and the Chief of Staff, Mr Reckson Hasani.

The allegations are around the alleged usage of the City of Ekurhuleni-issued credit cards this past weekend at the ANC celebrations to pay a bill.

In a statement issued by the office of the mayor, it is stated, “the allegations are unfortunate as the City of Ekurhuleni has no credit cards for any executive or staff member. The two public representatives of the City of Ekurhuleni further clarified that they were not at the alleged venue at that time of the morning. The two representatives well within their rights were at the January 8 festivities and supporting the event.”

“We regret the sensationalism created around false allegations around the public representatives of the City of Ekurhuleni,” the statement reads.
