A G4S security guard was robbed while collecting money from an internet cafe in Maokeng Section.
Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said on December 19 the security guard was carrying a bag filled with cash when he was confronted by armed men.
“When he was going back to the G4S truck, two unknown men pointed firearms at him. One took his firearm.
“The other suspect cut open the bag of money with a sharp object. He took the money out and ran away. He entered a grey Mercedes Benz with an unknown registration number,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
The suspects fled the scene and one suspect shot at the money truck with a rifle but no one was injured.
“It seems that there were five suspects. No arrests were made,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
The case is being investigated by the SAPS Organised Crime Unit.
